Maple Ski Ridge Lodging
Maple Ski Ridge is located 20 miles northwest of Albany and 6 miles from Schenectady. A family owned ski area, Maple Ski Ridge is home to one of the best ski schools in New York. It’s no wonder that families make the trip, not just locally, but from all over New England. Of course, if you’re planning a trip to the family friendly slopes at this ski area, you’re going to need someplace to stay. Thankfully, with the proximity of two major cities, Maple Ski Ridge lodging isn’t hard to find.
Glen Sanders Mansion
Glen Sanders is located across the Mohawk River in Scotia, but because of its unique charm and appeal, deserves to be considered as an option for Maple Ski Ridge Lodging when you make the trip to the ski area. Room options include a single king or two queens and have either a walk-in shower or a bath tub. Suites are available for those looking for more pampering; these feature four-post King beds and a soaking tub perfect for soothing the aches of the slopes. Angelo’s Tavolo and the Maquas Lounge are on the main floor of the hotel and are perfect for an elegant après ski dinner. If you’re fortunate, you can catch one of the weekly Italian regional tastings that Frank Tardio, the executive chef, prepares for guests.
The Stockade Inn
Whether you’re hitting the slopes alone or with your family, The Stockade Inn is another option for Maple Ski Ridge lodging. There are eleven room choices, ranging from single rooms with a full bed to full suites with separate sitting rooms. The in-house lounge makes for a perfect end to a full day of skiing, with wine by the glass and sumptuous desserts served with live jazz on Thursday and Friday evenings. For a tasty treat, try the Mad Jack sliders and truffle fries. Mad Jack braised onions and blue cheese top these mini burgers which pair perfectly with a cold glass of ale.
The Parker Inn and Suites
The Parker Inn is located in downtown Schenectady on State Street, smack in the middle of the entertainment district and just a few minutes’ drive from the slopes. If you want to cook your own meals, the queen studio rooms feature a kitchen with a full sized refrigerator, microwave and a two-burner glass top stove. For truly pampering yourself, the Presidential Suite has a kitchen, a seating area and sleeper sofa, and an oversized tub, perfect for soaking away the aches and pains of a day of skiing.
Of course, because the ski area is only a short distance from Albany, you can find all of the major chain hotels there, including several Hiltons, a Sheraton, and the normal slew of Days Inns and Motel 8’s. For a family vacation, you may find it worthwhile to save money on lodging and spend it on the slopes instead. No matter which Maple Ski Ridge lodging you choose, you and your family are sure to have a great vacation.
